Every shortcut in the editor: note entry, selection, copy & paste, playback, files and tools.
TellMeScore is built keyboard-first: with one hand on the arrow keys and one on the number row you can transcribe faster than with any mouse-driven workflow. On Windows and Linux, use Ctrl wherever ⌘ is shown.
Note entry
| Keys | Action |
|---|
| 0 – 9 | Set the fret at the cursor. Type two digits quickly for frets 10–24 (e.g. 1 then 2 for fret 12). |
| ← → | Move between beats. Moving past the last bar creates a new one. |
| ↑ ↓ | Move between strings. |
| R | Turn the current beat into a rest. |
| Del / Backspace | Delete the note under the cursor (on a rest, repairs bar overflow). |
| Esc | Clear the selection, or close the effects panel. |
Selection, copy & undo
| Keys | Action |
|---|
| ⇧ ← → | Extend a beat-range selection from the cursor. |
| ⌘C | Copy the selection (or the current beat). |
| ⌘V | Paste over beats starting at the cursor. |
| ⌘D | Repeat the selection (or current beat) right after itself — press again to chain. |
| ⌘Z | Undo. |
| ⌘⇧Z / Ctrl+Y | Redo. |
Playback
| Keys | Action |
|---|
| Space | Play / pause from the current position. |
Modes & tools
| Keys | Action |
|---|
| L | Toggle lyrics mode (arrows move between notes; Esc or L exits). |
| ⌘K | Open the search palette — find any notation element by name and apply it. |
Files
| Keys | Action |
|---|
| ⌘S | Download the song as a .tmscore.json file. |
| ⌘O | Open a song file. |
The status bar at the bottom of the editor always shows a one-line reminder of the core keys, plus your current bar, beat, string and duration.
